Description: With brilliant, delicate red flowers that bloom up the entirety of the single, long flower spike, Cardinal Flower would make a great addition to any garden. It attracts both insect and bird pollinators. The late summer to early fall bloom coincides with the fall migration of the Ruby-throated Hummingbird, providing a needed source of nectar. The nectar produced will also attract many insect pollinators. It grows best in full sun to part sun and wet to medium-wet soil conditions. The flower spike will reach a maximum height of 5 feet, while the green foliage will remain shorter when not in bloom, making it a good border for your landscape.
